Associate Broadcast Director, National Television

The Associate Broadcast Director, National Television is a passionate leader who demonstrates critical thinking through strategic TV recommendations. Responsibilities

– General Market National TV Buying (Broadcast and Cable)
– Negotiate, purchase and steward National TV (Upfront and Scatter), obtaining the most competitive pricing to achieve client goals/objectives
– Lead upfront negotiations across clients and networks
– On-going campaign performance monitoring
– Oversee all budget activity (quarterly/monthly/weekly)
– Guarantee client goals and deliverables are achieved
– Formulate, write and present well-articulated buying strategies and rationale to senior clients
– Work with media partners and planning team to develop and execute innovative ideas that are in-line with client marketing objectives and business needs
– Ensure all guaranteed media is pacing and delivering according to plan, negotiate ADUs as necessary to meet goals
– Leverage technology solutions/reporting to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
– As national TV expert, provide insights into marketplace conditions and opportunities with key media partners
– Develop, grow and enhance network relationships by maintaining strong rapport with sales representatives to negotiate the most efficient rates and secure added value whenever possible
– Collaboratively work with multiple departments (planning, buying, account, traffic, finance)
– Supervise and mentor junior team members in their direct responsibilities; enable and encourage exceptional performance from team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

– Ability to translate data into well-articulated innovative ideas
– Superior organizational, interpersonal and managerial skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
– Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
– Ability to be flexible within the responsibilities of the position based on agency and client business needs

Education and Experience

– Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in marketing, business, communications or related field
– 7+ years’ experience in national General Market TV media buying
– Understanding of marketing concepts in the financial category preferred, not a must
– Comprehensive knowledge of TV media in the general marketplace across National Cable, Syndication and Network TV (local TV buying experience a plus)
– Expert in Upfront negotiations, both Broadcast and Cable
– Strong project management skills
– Expert in media fundamentals
– Expert in the use of industry leading National TV buying tools
– Experience with Mediaocean OX a plus
– Enthusiastic team player with an “anything is possible” attitude
